Mr. John Edward Foster was born on April 5, 1916 in Perry County, Marion, Alabama to the Late Mr. Stan and Mrs. Lucille Foster. They were blessed with seven children: David, James, Cora Lee, Mary Dell, Arthur and Lucy which all preceded him in death. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Hopewell Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William Crews. On December 5, 1937 he was unified in holy matrimony to the Late Mrs. Nellie Bell Jones. To this union he was blessed with ten children: Earnestine Foster Gavin (James), Birmingham, Alabama; Johnny Foster (Sallie), Birmingham, Alabama; Cora Burkes (Clarence), Saginaw, Michigan; Helen Turner (Charlie) Birmingham, Alabama; Robert Foster (Dorothy) Saginaw, Michigan; Jerry Foster (Deborah) Birmingham, Alabama; Therolene Phillips (Charlie) Birmingham, Alabama; Annie Jean Johnson (Joe) Vicksburg, Mississippi; Shirley Garrett (Donald) Shreveport, Louisiana; Glory Kaufman (John) Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Johnny and Glory both preceded him in death along with 3 grandchildren; Rev. Darryl L. Foster, Dr. Tanya Foster, and Kimberly Crawford as well as three son-in-laws, James, Charlie and E.J.
He leaves to cherish his legacy 6 daughters, 2 sons, 27 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, 1 special niece, Quincie Price, Dayton, Ohio; one sister-in-law Adelaide Jones of Marion, Alabama; one God Son, Jimmy Moore, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
