Vernon Smalley

May 30, 1930 ~ December 21, 2018 (age 88)

Vernon Smalley expired on December 21, 2018 at 1205 pm at home in his bed. His death was peaceful and painless.

Vernon was a native of Georgia by way of New York but resided in Hoover, Alabama from (December 2016 until he passed away) with his companion Florence Wallace and her daughter Yvette Jackson and son in law Leroy Jackson.

Vernon was born in Hephzibah, Georgia to LeRosa Williams and Evan Smalley. He has no surviving children and only his younger sister, Anna Williams remains. Vernon left Georgia and headed for the big city of New York, where he met and fell in love with Florence Wallace.

Vernon Smalley was a quiet hardworking man of big stature. He worked as a Chef at Queens General Hospital for 25 years. His specialty was hog head cheese and white potato pie. Vernon loved to cook and feed people and he was very southern in all that he did and said.

THE REDEMPTIVE WORK OF GOD:

God gave you his son so that you can live. Vernon provided Florence with 44 years of help and support for her children; Howard, Cecil, Micheal, Florence Jr., Yvette, Carl and Donna. Four decades of life's trials and tribulations, but through it all their commitment grew even more. God gave him the opportunity to return to his flock but his fear kept him away. But then one day, Florence and Vernon barred their souls and accepted his love. And because of that they have let an example for the young to follow. Do not allow fear to keep you away from your Heavenly Father, for he will forgive all sins through the redemption work of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior...the Lord has called him home and his mercy and grace allowed him to experience a beautiful peaceful departure.

Fare ye well......................
