Wiley Carpenter Sr. was born November 7, 1940 to the late John Andrew Williams and Lucinda (Pete) Carpenter in Boligee, Alabama.
He was educated within the Greene County school system. He participated in basketball and was very good.
He was employed at various trucking companies. He was last employed with Bama Tomato until he became unable to drive trucks.
Wiley confessed Christ later in life and became a member of The Way of Salvation Cathedral of God under the leadership of Willie E. Sanders Sr.
He loved his family and friends.
He was and avid fisherman and a superb hunter but his first love was truck driving.
He was married to Martha Plummer. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: David Leonard Carpenter of Saginaw, MI; Katherine Carpenter Wade of Center Point, AL; Walter C. Carpenter of Flint, MI; Wiley Carpenter Jr. (Sandra) of Grand Rapids, MI; all by his first wife Eugene Carpenter preceded in death.
Mr. Carpenter had other children later. Greer of Chicago, IL; Lawanda Gregory, Vickie, Ricky Carpenter, Michael Sewell, Ray and Rashawn Thomas of Birmingham, AL. Also, 4 step-children, 2 preceded him in death.
Brothers: Tim (Peggy) Turner, John Henry Turner, Richard Williams of Birmingham, AL; Nathaniel Morgan of Detroit, MI; Wayne (Virginia) Williams of Chicago, IL and Leonard Williams of Sedalia, MO. Hayzen Turner of Arkansas.
Sisters: Hazel Johnson of Leeds, AL; Janie (David) George, Hattie Floyd, Darlene Turner, Hana Shabezz, Mildred Williams all of Birmingham, AL; Jesse Robertson of Nashville, TN; Mary (Adam) Wiley of Detroit, MI; Ora Lee Turner, Willie Greene Turner, Arlene Turner and Dorthy Brown all preceded in death.
Grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Special Recognition to: Vaneishia, KaShae, San’Carlos and Avarious Carpenter, Demarius and Deshalyn McCracklin whom all were special caregivers. Also a very special thanks to Brother Roosevelt Banks for his love and support for Wiley Carpenter Sr.
