LaDonna Maria Hicks Obituary

Birmingham, Alabama – La Donna M. Hicks, a quiet and reserved soul, touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her unwavering love and care for her family and friends were evident in every gesture, every word. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Mrs. Rosie G. Coleman on February 28th, 1956. La Donna attendedTuskegee Institute High School.

Family held a special place in her heart. As a devoted mother, La Donna poured her heart into raising her sons, Jacques Henri Hicks (born 1973) and Michael Lenard Hicks (born 1979). Their well-being was her priority, and she loved them unconditionally. She cherished moments spent with her aunts, Jo and Barbra, and her cousins Ann, Veronica and Andrea. Her fondness for Uncle Wilson was unwavering; they were always there for her, and she appreciated their presence.

La Donna’s faith anchored her life. Regular church attendance at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, provided her strength and solace. She found comfort in her relationship with the Lord.

Her Love for Gardening and Flowers: La Donna was born with a green thumb. She could grow anything.  She always tried to have a flower and vegetable garden. She could spend hours tending to it. Friends and neighbors admired her garden, it's where she found peace and happiness. Her green thumb is a testament to her patient, kind and nurturing spirit.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. Carlton and Mrs. Rosie G. Coleman, as well as her son, Michael L. Hicks. Surviving family members include her loving son, Jacques Henri Hicks, Her two Devoted Aunts Josephine German and Barbra German, a loving Uncle Mr. Wilson German, and cousins Ann Cooper Williams, Wiler German, Veronica German, Andrea Garrison, Ja’Nay Knox, and Jasmine German.

In her quiet way, La Donna left an indelible mark on her family and friends. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
