Deacon Leslie Sebastion Ward was born May 5, 1966 in Birmingham AL. He was the youngest
of six children. He was educated in the Birmingham City School system, graduating with the
class of 1985 from G. W. Carver High School. He attended Alcorn State University on a football
scholarship, holding the position of defensive lineman with the Alcorn Braves.
He began his career with ACIPCO (AMERICAN) on August 16, 1989 where he remained a
faithful and active employee. His hard work and dedication earned him the title of Production
Supervisor.
After many years of friendship, he fell in love with Pamela Renae Carr at a New Year’s Eve
Party. She quickly became the love of his life and on December 20, 1997 the two became one.
To this union five beautiful children were born. Deacon Ward loved his family endlessly and
worked countless hours to provide for them.
Deacon Ward joined Purity Holiness Church of God, North Birmingham (which later became
The Way of Salvation Cathedral of God), under the leadership of Apostle Willie Sanders Sr. and
Mother Bertha L. Sanders in 1998. There, Apostle Sanders took him under his wing teaching him
the things pertaining to life and godliness, becoming the only father that he ever knew. Deacon
Ward was filled with the Holy Ghost on May 27, 1998. He served as Apostle Sanders’ Armour
Bearer for twenty-five years. He also served as Van Driver, Sunday School Teacher, Security and
Head Deacon. Deacon Ward was the National Deacon for the TWOS Fellowship of Churches.
He was preceded in death by his mothers Lelia Ward and Mother Bertha L. Sanders, his brothers
Isaac Ward and James Kirkman, his sisters Cherie Quinn and Apostle Bernetta Peak and a very
special nephew Justin “Football” Wade.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his beautifully devoted wife Evangelist Pamela Ward,
special father Apostle Willie Sanders Sr., two sons Cornelius (Karen) Ward and Leslie Carr of
Birmingham AL, three daughters Minister Amelia (Darryl) Kimbrough of Birmingham AL,
Delois (Rocky) Marsh of Columbus Ga. and Kellie Ward of Birmingham AL. Four brothers,
Ezell Ward, Kendrick (Angnetta) Quinn, Maurice Frazier and Willie (Katrina) Sanders Jr. all of
Birmingham AL. Six sisters… Jessie Mae Scott, Wanda (Fredrick) Thomas, Wanda King,
Pamela (Walter) Dawson, Cynita (Derrick) Holden and Willa Sanders all of Birmingham AL.
Ten grand children… Cornelius Ward Jr., Cameron Ward, Carmen Ward, Calvin Ward, Darryl
Kimbrough Jr., Anaya Montgomery, Lillian Kimbrough, Devin Kimbrough, Zuri Carr, Justin
Carr, honorary granddaughter Aleiyah Kennedy. Two special sister-in-laws Lillie (Stanley)
Williams and Cynthia (Tony) West. Special Spiritual Godparents Dr. Bernard & Dr. Alice Steele.
